Mangaluru: Speculation and rumours surrounding the transfer of two senior IPS officers serving in Dakshina Kannada district have been laid to rest. Reliable sources have confirmed that Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy, IPS, and Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Arun Kumar, IPS, will continue in their respective posts for the next two years.
Sources clarified that there is no proposal or discussion at the government level regarding their transfer. Since assuming charge, both officers have established firm control over law and order in Mangaluru city and Dakshina Kannada district. Illegal activities have been largely curtailed, and sustained operations against drug trafficking have significantly reduced the drug menace, which had been a longstanding concern in the district.
Continuous action against drug networks has strengthened enforcement efforts, and officials believe Dakshina Kannada is moving steadily towards becoming a drug-free district. In view of the improved law and order situation and effective policing, senior authorities, including the Chief Minister, have reportedly indicated that there is no intention to transfer these key officers. With this clarification, all speculation regarding their transfer has come to an end.
